Earth Day 2011

This coming Friday, April 22, 2011 is Earth Day. How do you plan to celebrate? If you aren't sure, here are some ideas:
  • drink tap water instead of purchasing bottled water
  • start using 'green' cleaning products at home and at your place of work
  • take reusable bags with you when shopping
  • purchase products made with recycled materials (toilet paper, paper, paper towels, greeting cards, etc)
  • recycled as much as possible (aluminum, plastic, cardboard, paper, etc.)
Making new paper products from recycled paper results in significant energy savings and water use. For example, according to the EPA, every ton of recycled paper produced:
  • requires 7,000 fewer gallons of water to manufacture than virgin paper
  • Saves approximately 4,100 kwh or energy over virgin paper production
  • Results in 74% less air pollution and 35% less water pollution
  • Keeps almost 60 pounds of air pollutants out of the atmosphere vs. virgin resources
